Henry H. Butch Schrier Sr., 76, of 1532 First Street, LaPorte, died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at LaPorte Hospital.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Cutler Funeral Home with Jim Eiler officiating. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, where full military rites will be conducted.
He was born September 7, 1927, in LaPorte to Henry and Melvina (Rice) Schrier Sr. On November 18, 1950, he married Kathaleen L. Cowgill, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Wendell) Wiltfong and Cynthia Shrier, both of LaPorte, and Lauri (Cal) Chap-man of South Bend; four sons, Donald, Ronald and Henry Jr. all of LaPorte and Charlie (Barb) of Tiffin, OH; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one brother, George (Pat) Schrier of LaPorte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert E. Shrier, four sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Schrier retired as an operator with Engineers Local 150. He was a member of American Legion 83, the Fathers Auxiliary of VFW 1130, Polish Falcons Nest 564, the 40 and 8 Club and Voiture 276.
