Herbert Albert Roman, 87 years old of Westville, IN, died April 6, 2012 at The Waters of Duneland in Chesterton, IN.
He was born September 7, 1924 in Kaunas, Lithuania, son of Albert Herbert Romanowsky and Maria (Broschat) Romanowsky.
Herbert immigrated to Chicago, IL after World War II. He was a self-employed business owner. He moved his family to Westville, Indiana in the early 1970's, where he started an egg business with approximately 16,000 chickens. He enjoyed playing chess, reading, and spending time with his family. He was also very passionate about wildlife and his pets.
Surviving are his son: Norbert Herbert Roman (wife, Dorothy) of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters: Karen Brigitte Humphrey (husband, Mike) of Ft. Myers, FL, and Dagmar Roman Mishler (husband, Jeff) of Westville, IN; and six grandchildren: Danielle Gehring, Corey Russell, Michele and Melissa Humphrey, Matthew and Kristopher Mishler. Also surviving are his brother Paul Roman of LaPorte and sister Irene Boetcher of Addison, IL.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Walter Romanowsky; mother: Maria (Broschat) Romanowsky; father: Albert Herbert Romanowsky; and daughter: Jolanda Valentine Roman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 6 P.M. Monday, April 9, 2012.
Friends will be received at the Funeral Home from 3 P.M. until the time of the service on Monday.
Interment will follow privately at Pine Lake Cemetery at a later date.
