Bryce “Whitey” Hinton, 82, of Michigan City, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Aperion Arbors in Michigan City with his loving family by his side.
Bryce was born on March 28, 1936 in McDonough, GA, to Henry and Lucy (Glass) Hinton.
On July 24, 1954 in McDonough, GA, he married his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Greene, who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Gail (Randy) Lueth of McMurray, PA, Donald ( Erin) Hinton of Indianapolis, Ronald (Penny) Hinton of LaPorte and Sandi (Todd) Barton of Michigan City; grandchildren, Angie (Aaron) Youngstedt of St. Joseph, MI, Julie (Mark) Dail of Denver, NC, Carl Lueth of Pittsburgh, PA, Bryce Barton of Michigan City, Brent Barton of Michigan City, Ryan Hinton of Indianapolis, Madison Hinton of LaPorte, and Ela Huffman of LaPorte; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Sydney and Greta Youngstedt of St. Joseph, MI, Evie, Maizie and Dixie Dail of Denver, NC; special cousin, Mickey Hinton, and other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Bryce was an iron worker with Local 395 (Hammond) for 40 years before retiring. He was a member of Springville Free Methodist where he served as a trustee for over 45 years.
Bryce enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on the estate that he built in Springfield Township back in 1976. He loved working in the wood/metal shop he built on the back of the property, where he and the “boys” made and told may stories that resulted in lifetime friendships and memories. Bryce was a man that kept promises, honored commitment and was a man of integrity. His word was his bond. Bryce was a man who faithfully lived his values and loved his family unconditionally.
A time of visitation will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 4-8pm (CT), and from 9am (CT) until the time of the service at the funeral home.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 10 am (CT) on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
