Howard "Jack" Lewis Alward, Jr., 79, of La Porte, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his home.
Jack was born in South Bend, IN, on November 12, 1937 to Howard and Elizabeth (Kushtow) Alward.
On May 11, 1968 in FL, he married Carol Wolfenbarger who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Dawn (Mike), Jack (Patti), Ron (Chris), Deborah, Jennifer (Kevin), Melody (John), and Eric (Jessica); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, James (Bess) and Sarah; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jacob Andrews; and sister, Patty Calvin.
Jack served his country honorably as a Corporal in the US Marines. He was a sheet metal worker with the Sheet Metal Union. He was a member of First Church of God. Jack enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and making toys for thousands of children.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, January 23, 2017 at First Church of God, 2020 E. Lincolnway, La Porte with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating. Military honors will be conducted during the service. A visitation will be held prior to the start of the service from 3 - 4:00 pm Monday at the church. Interment will take place at a later date.
