Inez F. Tucker, 79 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 6:18 PM at IU Health LaPorte Hospital surrounded by three generations of family.
She was born on July 5, 1932 in Washington County, IL, daughter of the late Luther M. and Alta H. (Creel) Stephens.
She was married on May 27, 1952 to David A. Tucker who preceded her in death on October 9, 1996.
Inez was able to return to college in the 70's to complete her nursing degree and graduate from Purdue University. She retired from nursing after 12 years as a phych nurse at the Stress Center of the former LaPorte Hospital.
Inez was involved in music the majority of her life, from drum majorette in High School, singing in a trio on the radio, to President of the Amateur Musical Club in 1968. She was active in all the church choirs throughout her life. She also preformed many solos when asked throughout the years. She encouraged all of her family members and friends to develop their musical gifts.
In 1989 David & Inez started G.T.B. Trucking. Inez wasn't able to be actively involved with the company at the end, as she had battled breast cancer since December 2009.
Inez passed with three generations of David and her family around her. She was excited about the prospect of rejoining David in their new home-Heaven.
Surviving are her children: Gina F. Tucker, Lance M. (Nina) Tucker, and Grant S. (Tina) Tucker all of LaPorte; eight grandchildren: Jennifer I. Mangold, Bryan D. Tucker II, David A. Tucker, Emily A. Tucker, Skyler T. Tucker, Blake T. Tucker, Rachel Renee Tucker, and Jonathan S. Tucker all of LaPorte; three step-grandchildren: Sarah Wood, Carissa Cavanaugh & Graham (Nicole) Cavanaugh; eight great grandchildren: Tyler, Julien, Christian, Hannah, Ashlynn, Aleeyah, Isabella, and Brynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David, and son, Bryan Tucker, Sr.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service and also on Saturday from 10-11 PM at the First Baptist Church of Kingsbury.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Kingsbury with Rev. Tim Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Kingsbury Cemetery.
