Irene Bernier 97, of Sugar Land, Texas passed away on her birthday Tuesday, February 4, 2025, peacefully at her home. Irene was born in San Antonio Texas to father, Jose Horacio Garza and mother, Estella Villareal Garza. She is survived by her four daughters, Annette Bernier, Michelle Bernier Perry, Yvonne Bernier Carlson, and Jeanine Bernier Born. Her four grandchildren: Jessica Born, Brynn, Cecelia and Galen Bailey.

 Irene was a devoted mother and grandmother. Shew lived a full life with many experiences. She was very involved with her church, St. Teresa in Sugar Land, TX where she was in the ladies auxiliary, parish council and St. Vincent de Paul’s Society. She volunteered for many pancake breakfast, church bazaars, Bingo Nights and volleyball games and always included her girls at each event. She was a Girl Scout Leader throughout her daughters' childhoods. She led many camping trips, mentored the earning of all badges from Brownie to Cadet levels, cookie sales and crafts skills.

 At a young age she was a seamstress working with her tailor father for Frank Brothers in San Antonio. She also worked in the war assets and administration mail room. In 1941 she went to be a Kelly-Katie, riveting airplane wings at Kelly AFB during the Korean war.

 She was an accomplished and graceful dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios where she met her future husband, Charles Otterson Bernier, at a Halloween dance. They married soon after and danced together for many years.

 She worked and retired as the supervisor of medical records at McGovern Allergy Clinic of Houston.

 She will be laid to rest in San Femando II, San Antonio, Texas beside her parents and brother.
