Jack "Skip" McGinnis, Jr.

Jack "Skip" McGinnis, Jr., 61, of La Porte, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Franciscan Health Michigan City.

Skip was born on August 18, 1960 in Michigan City, IN, to Jack Merle and Thelma LaDonna (Schoff) McGinnis.

On September 20, 1986 in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Dawn E. Holley who survives.  Also surviving are his children, Candace J. (Stephen) Shipp, Joseph E. McGinnis, Samantha L. McGinnis, and Kristen K.L. McGinnis, all of La Porte; beloved granddaughter, Amelia Eloise Shipp; and siblings, Walter "Gator" (Congetta) McGinnis, Jo Anne (Bob) McGinnis-Faught, and Thomas McGinnis.

He was preceded by his parents and two siblings, Donny and Betty Scheidel.

Skip worked for Centerline roofing company as a truck driver delivering shingles.  He enjoyed art and painting, playing guitar, singing, cooking out and loved fishing.  Skip was mechanically talented and could fix anything. He especially enjoyed time with family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021 with Pastor Joe Shelton officiating.  Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 12 pm until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
