Jacob Tsitrian, 93, died October 29, 2012 at IU LaPorte Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1919 in Turkey to Kristina and Mgerdich Chitrian (translates to Tsitrian). He served in the Greek Army and was a POW during the Holocaust. Coming to the US in 1950 as a refugee, he lived many years in California where he owned several restaurants, won blue ribbons for his famous cheesecake recipe, and acted in a few Hollywood westerns. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are three children John (Dawna) Tsitrian and Kristina Tsitrian of South Dakota, and Peter (Betty) Tsitrian of Florida. Four grandchildren Christopher (Veronica) Tsitrian, Jennifer (Shawn) Joseph, Emily Tsitrian, and Jennifer Chumbley. Ten great grandchildren, Lilly, Kayla, and Jacob Tsitrian; Deven, Brecken, Anondi, Sumayah, and Remie Joseph; Kourtney and Grant Chumbley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Araxe, and two wives Elizabeth and Helen.
