James Michael Brooks

James Michael Brooks passed away February 18th, 2019 in South Bend, IN due to complications from lung cancer.
Mike, as he was known to family and friends was born September 23, 1940 in Detroit, MI to Alston and Marjorie Brooks.  He was raised in Albion, MI as one of 13 children.
Mike was a Vietnam Veteran and worked in the sheet metal industry retiring from Wells Aluminum.  For the past 29 years he has lived in Walkerton, IN with his loving wife Bonnie (Spencer).
Mike is survived by wife, Bonnie; 2 children, Michele Spencer and Michael (Jennifer) Brooks, both of Albion; 4 stepdaughters who he loved like his own, Mary Stewart, Danielle (Mike) Hutchison, Jacqui Collins and Holly(Steve) Plis; 5 siblings, Barbara (Lloyd) Spencer, Blaine (Linda) Brooks, Sue (Denny) Johnson, Betsy Davis-Morgan (Mike) and Kathy Davis; and several grand children and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother; step father, Kenneth Davis; first wife, Mary Lou Christian and 7 siblings.
Mike was a self-proclaimed connoisseur of all foods, enjoyed playing guitars with the fellas, a rousing game of Euchre and any reason to fire up the bar-b-que.  Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends.
A more peaceful, accepting, gentle man couldn’t be found. His influence will remain strong while his presence will be sorely missed.
There will be a Memorial Service held at Grace Baptist Church, 500 Cosmopolitan, Marshall, MI on March 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM (CT).
