James Frederick Day, 79, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.

James was born in La Porte, IN, on December 29, 1936 to Gerald S. and Harriet F. (Miller) Day.

On October 22, 1960 in La Porte, he married Nancy Nicklas who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Gary (Rhonda) Day of South Bend, IN, and Karen (David Rochon) Day of Newton, MA; grandchildren, Dylan, Emma, and Elizabeth Rochon, Emily and Nickolas Day.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Sampson.

James attended and graduated from La Porte High School and Purdue University. He spent his life working as owner and Pharmacist at Day's Clinic Pharmacy. James was an active member at the First United Methodist Church, Indiana Pharmacy Alliance, National Association of Community Pharmacists, Professional Compounding Centers of America PCCA, and was also a local Mason. James enjoyed golfing, singing in the Methodist Church Choir, volunteering with the La Porte Lions Club, and spending time with his family.

A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A time of visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2900 Monroe Street, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 26, 2016 with a time of visitation for 2 hours prior to the service at First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Pastors Robert Vale and Evan Lash officiating.
