James "Jim" N. Gregory, age 75, of La Porte, passed away on October 27, 2014 at IU Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte.
James was born in Kennett, MO on February 27, 1939 to Ernest and Neelie (Rodgers) Gregory.
Surviving are his beloved children, Teresa (John) Servos of Swansea, IL, Andrea (Dan) Bingheim of Belleville, IL; grandchildren, John James Servos, Justin Michael Servos, Elizabeth Rose Bingheim, Joseph Donald Bingheim, and Jacob Gregory Bingheim; long time companion, Charmaine Devereaux of La Porte; sister-in-law, Billie Jean Gregory of Kennett, MO; several nieces, nephews; and Jim's special love, his cat Indy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Lillard and Vernon Gregory; 2 sisters, Olean Newberry and Myrtle Gregory.
Jim enjoyed fishing, nature, being outdoors, and wood working. He was considered a professional "Tinkerer". Jim served honorably in the US Army in Thailand.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A time of visitation will be held from 3-5 PM prior to the service on Friday at the Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service with burial taken place at a later date.
