James Hubner

James W. Hubner, 85 years old of La Porte, IN, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 in Golden Living Center, Fountainview in La Porte.

He was born November 16, 1923 in Springfield, Illinois, son of the late Edward & Margaret (Peacock) Hubner. James has resided in LaPorte since eary childhood. He was a 1941 graduate of LaPorte High School. He was married May 26, 1945 in New Braunfels, Texas to Lucille M. Tibbs who preceded him in death August 13, 2006.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served on the Auditing Committee. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II, Past Commander two times of the V.F.W. Post #1130 and served with La Porte Veterans Honor Guard.

He worked as a foreman and salesman for Wilson Lumber for 32 years until his retirement.

Surviving are two sons; Douglas Lee (Nancy) Hubner of Pompano Beach, Florida, Jeffrey Lynn (Jane) Hubner of La Porte, 4 grandchildren; Ryan, Erica, Mitchell, & Alyssa and 3 great grandchildren, sister; Alyce Marie Galko of Lexington, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Services will be held at Cutler Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 11 AM with Rev. Ron Brauer officiating.

Friends will be received from 4-8 PM Tuesday and 10-11 AM Wednesday at the Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, IN.

Interment will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, with Full Military Rites by the La Porte Honor Guard.
