James "Jim" Wilbur Seymour, 91, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
James was born on September 12, 1925 in La Porte, IN, to Lee Roy and Lillian (Redding) Seymour.
On May 30, 1948 in La Porte, IN, he married Lois Sharlene Rameier who survives. Also surviving are his beloved sons, Mike (Tami) Seymour of Niles, MI, Doug (Cathy) Seymour of La Porte, and Wayne (Beccy) Seymour of La Porte; daughter-in-law, Patricia Seymour of La Porte; 8 grandchildren, John (Michelle) Seymour, Adam (Sarah) Seymour, Ryan Seymour, Amy (Ray) Wolfenbarger, Patrick (Alyssa) Seymour, Taya (Jim) Hardacre, Jillian Shelton, Julie (Justin) Banwert and Sandra (Ronald McClain) Seymour; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Lewis of New Carlisle and Lois Deutscher of Hobart; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents; son, Phillip J. Seymour; grandson, John Shelton; and brothers, Leroy and Donald Seymour.
Jim was a truck driver and entrepreneur who owned Seymour Sales and Service. He was a charter member of Scipio Township Volunteer Fire Department; a founding member of the La Porte County Sunday Farmers; and a former member of Maple City Lions Club. Jim used to make Sundays his "flea market treasure hunt" day because he always found a treasure. Jim also collected and restored countless antique tractors with his sons, Wayne and Doug.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM (CST) on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Norm Tyson officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 8 PM (CST) on Thursday, June 22, 2017, and from 10 AM until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
