Sue Birkholz, 72, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 8:05 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 15, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. David Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Heckman Cemetery.
Sue was born August 14, 1933, in Crawford County, Arkansas to Claude & Nona (Dotson) Williams. On June 2, 1951, in Oceanside, California, she married Henry "Hank" Birkholz III, who survives.
Also surviving are children Michael (Debra) Birkholz, David (Martha) Birkholz and Gay Lyn Birkholz, all of LaPorte; grandchildren Todd, Beth, Brook and Anna Birkholz and Jenna Lowery; step-grandchildren Kinlynn Gill & Ian Garrison; 2 great-grandchildren; and sister Zula Flickinger.
Her parents, step-father Harry Griffin and brother-in-law Wilbur Flickinger preceded her in death.
Sue had worked in the Education Service Center of the LaPorte Community School Corporation, Farm Bureau and had co-owned Shaffner Tire Service with her husband.
She was a member of the Golden Girls and she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
