Jean Ellen Wade, 82 years old of LaPorte, IN, died at home following a couragous battle with cancer. She was born December 19, 1929 in Lebanon, IN, daughter of the late Tiffin and Pauline (Tucker) Brenton.
Jean graduated from Lebanon High School and Indiana Central Business College. With her husband, she moved to LaPorte in 1958 and became active in local organizations including: LaPorte Jaycees, Tri Kappa, Service League and took part in various Bible Studies. For many years, she participated in the therapeutic swim exercise program at the YMCA. Jean was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
She was married on April 10, 1949 in Lebanon, IN to Franklin Budd Wade who survives. Also surviving are her two daughters; Brenda (Jeff) Guernsey of Jamestown, OH and Jane (Mark) Degler of Oshkosh, WI.; grandchildren, Jessica and Collin Guernsey, and Evan and Adam Degler; sister, Mary Kay (Mick) Bragg of Lebanon, IN.
The family would like to thank those who lovingly cared for Jean in her last months, especially Kathleen and VNA Hospice staff members Gail, Michelle and Danielle.
Friends and family will be received at a visitation at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Thursday August 16, 2012 from 4-6PM. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in La Porte on Friday August 17, 2012 at 2PM with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. A private interment service will take place at Carmel Cemetery at a later date.
