Jerry J. Seymour, Sr., 75, of Hamlet, passed away on August 22, 2013 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.
He was born in Lafayette, Indiana on July 19, 1938 to Harold O. and Virginia "Maxine" (Kellenberger) Seymour.
On August 5, 1957, he married Wilma J. Alexander who preceded him in death on November 5, 2004.
Surviving are his beloved children, Kim ("Jr." Clayton) Reed of Hamlet, Jerry (Edie) Seymour, Jr. of Walkerton, Pati S. (Thomas) James of Kingsford Heights, and Bill (Liza) Seymour of Hamlet; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Wentz of Culver, Indiana and Peggy Harris of Mesquite, Texas; and scores of children that called him "Dad" and "Grandpa".
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; father, Harold Seymour; mother, Maxine Bessler; brother, Deloss Seymour; and an aunt, Pat Kellenberger Milam.
Jerry was retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation where he was the Superintendent of Transportation. He graduated from Wanatah High School in 1956. Jerry was an Army Veteran who loved the outdoors, storytelling, and living history re-enactments.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the La Porte Honor Guard.
A time of visitation will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
