John Ray Boone, Sr.

John Ray Boone, Sr., 78, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

He was born on November 2, 1945 in La Porte, IN to Garfield and Delilah (Bowman) Boone.

John is survived by his son, John (Rhienna) Boone Jr. of La Porte; daughter, Justina Boone of Elkhart; grandchildren, Jessica (Cleston) Boone, Ashlee Boone, Abigail Boone, and Xoie Boone; great-grandchildren, Athena and Nova Caudill; ex-wife, Julia Boone of La Porte; and stepson, Terry Voltz of Michigan City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Delilah Boone.

John proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967.  He received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Sharpshooter (Rifle M14).

He worked in delivery for a local bakery.  John was a member of the American Legion.  He enjoyed working in his yard and watching movies.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
