John E. Hudgins, Sr., 94 years old of Kingsbury, IN, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 at his home.
He was born August 8, 1917 in Grapevine, TX., son of Osby & Mary (Hopkins) Hudgins. He graduated from Kingsbury High School.
John was married on October 3, 1938 in Kewanna, IN to Marie M. (Lower) Hudgins who preceded him in death.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII in Japan. He was a member of the VFW and the Moose Lodge. His hobby was farming and he enjoyed plating crops and raising cattle. Notably John aided in the improvement s of the Combine Harvesters and helped obtain the patent for Allis-Chalmers for the United States and Great Britain.
Surviving are his daughter, Diane K. Jones of LaPorte; grandchildren; Julie A. (Keith) Allesee and William J. (LeaAnne) Jones, both of LaPorte; Alex B. (Stephanie) Allesee, Neil J. Allesee, Benjamin Jones, Allison Jones, Jacob Bates, Aleah Bates; Great-Great grandson, Alex H. Allesee; nieces, Patricia (Greg) Bean, Robin (Richard) Raverson, Carol Owen; nephew James Lower.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; and his son, John E. Hudgins, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Kingsbury First Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Williams officiating.
There will be a time of visitation from 9AM to 10AM on Thursday, August 2, 2012.
Interment will follow in Kingsbury Cemetery with full military honors. Contributions may be made to the Kingsbury First Baptist Church.
