John Marshall

October 7, 1926 — July 15, 2014

John Marshall, age 87, of La Porte, went to be with his loving savior on July 15, 2014 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.

He was born in Gary, IN, on October 7, 1926 to Joseph and Frances (Supanik) Marshall.

On June 9, 1951 in La Porte, IN., he married Elizabeth (Scharf) Marshall who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Sandra Huffman of La Porte, Barbara (Kenneth) Kraus of La Porte, Patricia Marshall of Indianapolis, John (Stacy) Marshall of La Porte; grandchildren, Amanda (Benjamin) Schneider of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mary Elizabeth Huffman of La Porte, Sara Kraus of Valparaiso, Kathryn (Charles) Vander Stelt of Valparaiso, Cory Kraus of La Porte, Taylor Baucom of La Porte, Brooke Baucom of La Porte, Caden Marshall of La Porte; great grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, and Samantha Schneider of Honolulu, Hawaii; and sister, Mary Ann Peglow of Jensen Beach, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Irene (Grover) Smith of Elkhart.

John was a 1944 Graduate of La Porte High School. He went on to serve his country honorably during WWII in the United States Army. He was past President of La Porte Oldtimer's Baseball Organization, and a member of many organizations including, PRCU, and LPHS Football Hall of Fame. John retired from Whirlpool Corporation and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his family, especially playing ball and spending time with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Ian Williams officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 3-8 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with a Prayer Service being held at 6 PM. A time of visitation will also be held from 8:30 -9:30 AM on Friday also at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
