John Piotrowicz

John Piotrowicz, 89 years old of Walkerton,(Fish Lake) Indiana, died Saturday, October 29, 2011 in his home.

He was born June 5, 1922 in Hegewisch, Illinois, Son of the late Joseph and Barbara Piotrowicz.

He was a member of North Liberty Church of Christ, a board member of Saulktown Cemetery Assoc., American Legion Post #400 of Fish Lake, IN. for 60 years where he had served as Chaplain, US Army Veteran of WWII where he was a POW and received the Purple Heart and served with 101st Airborne
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening
He retired from farming and Indiana State Highway after 25 years.

He married June 19, 1943 in South Carolina to Mary Alice O'Connor who preceded him in death.

Surviving are Three daughters; Janet (Ronald) Peterson, Laurel (Keith) Baker, and Mary (Todd) Hornig all of La Porte, Four sons; Fred of Lawton, MI., Ronald (Karen) and Larry (Tammy) both of Eyota, MN., and John (Brenda) of Kokomo, IN., 23 Grandchildren, 14 Gt. Grandchildren, 1 brother: Joseph (Peggy) Piotrowicz of Walkerton, IN, and 3 sisters: Helen (Gene) Enders of Sheldon, IL, Josephine (Charles) Bowman of Lakeville, IN, and Genevieve (Tony) Wesolowski of Eaton, IN.
He was preceded in death by; his wife of 64 years, 3 brothers; Fred, Stanley and Edward Piotrowicz, 2 sisters; Emily Chlupacek and Pauline Kaminski.

Friends will be received at the North Liberty Church of Christ from 4-8:00 PM( EST) Thursday Nov. 3, 2011 and from 9:30-10:30 AM(EST) Friday Nov. 4, 2011 at the church with a Service starting at 10:30 AM (EST) with Rev. Timothy Stewart officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sauktown Cemetery, with Full Military Honors by Post #400.
