John Leroy Sinks, Jr.

John Leroy Sinks, Jr., 69, of Chesterton, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 in Portage.

John was born in Chicago, IL, on December 20, 1948 to John Leroy, Sr. and Pearl (Kisner) Sinks.

Surviving are his children, John Sinks of Valparaiso, Joey Sinks of Valparaiso, and Jeremy (Carolynn Ann) Sinks of Portage; 5 grandchildren, Shawn Dismore, Lillith Crites, Layne Mae Sinks, Maribelle Christine Ann Sinks, and Aaron Grayson Sinks; 2 sisters, Annie Piddington and Fern O'dor, both of Portage; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christine Denise Sinks; and 2 sisters, Lori Clark and Mae Creaighton.

John worked as a carpenter.  He enjoyed playing cards, his favorite holiday, Halloween, soaking and relaxing in the tub, sharpening knives, watching storms on the swing, and most of all the joy of company.  He was a simple man with a simple life.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM (CST) on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

A time of visitation will be held from 5 PM (CST) until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
