Joseph P Flaherty, 83 Years, of La Porte, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at his home.
Joseph was born in Chicago, IL, on May 27, 1934 to John and Mary (Hynes) Flaherty.
Surviving are his beloved children, Christine (Bob) Frank, Patrick (Brenda) Flaherty, Anthony Flaherty, Marie Goers, John Flaherty all of La Porte; brother, Willie (Millie) Flaherty; and countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgine Flaherty; his parents, John and Mary (Hynes) Flaherty; sisters, Mary (Clyde) Nanneman, Peggy (Herb) Meyer, Barbara (Jack) Stadler, Kathlene (Sheldon) Diamond; brother, Jack (Arlene) Flaherty; granddaughter, Brittney Flaherty; and son-in-law, Scott Goers.
Joseph was a Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, playing poker, vacationing with family, spending time with his close friends (The Daisys) and he was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He was a member the American Legion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM (CST) on Friday, February 23, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ian Williams officiating. Interment will take place following the service with Full Military Honors at Patton Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 -8 PM (CST) with a prayer service taking place at 4 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 and also from 8:30 -9:30 AM at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Friday.
