Joseph H. Flinchum

Joseph H. Flinchum, 70 , of La Porte, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.

Joseph was born in Chicago, IL, on December 2, 1947 to Floyd  and Edna Louise (Welch ) Flinchum.

On September 3, 1968, he married Jean (Coburn) Flinchum who survives in La Porte.  Also surviving are his beloved children, Gina (Jim) Taschler of La Porte, Melissa (Michael) Carrier, of La Porte, Jodie Sexton of La Porte, Carrie (Santiago Ramos, Jr.) Crum of Brownesville, TX; 10 grandchildren, Brittnay (Brian) Fuller of Crown Point, Andrew Taschler of Colorado Springs, COm Emily Soales of La Porte, Abigail Soales of La Porte, Zachary Hyska of La Porte, Madison Sexton of La Porte, Gavin Sexton of La Porte, Kennedy Hynek of La Porte, Sadie Crum of Brownsville, TX, Cooper Crum of Brownsville, TX, Santiago Ramos, Brownsville, TX; great-grandchildren, Sophia Smith, Jaxon Fuller; sisters, Bonnie Gall of New Carlisle, Kathy (Ray) Sipes of Hudson Lake, Pamela (Tom) Martell of New Carlisle; brothers, Jim (Debbie) Flinchum of Hudson Lake, and John (Kathy) Flinchum of Hudson Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill McKinley, Floyd Flinchum; sisters, Kathy Panos, and Clista Bushman.

Joseph loved guns, drawing, glass blowing, he was a great woodworker and was always working on a project or helping someone. Joe was a fun loving jokester and always known for his one liner. Most of all he loved being a grandfather "papa". Joseph retired from Alcoa Howmet after working from 1977-2011.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at  11 AM (CST) on Friday, January 12, 2018  at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating. Interment will take place privately following the service at Pine Lake Cemetery at a later date.

A time of visitation will be held from  4- 8 PM (CST) on Thursday, January 11, 2018 and from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
