On Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 3:05 p.m. at his home, surrounded by his family, a loving and courageous man, who never gave up his fight against cancer, was lost.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pine Lake Cemetery will be the place of burial.
Sonny was born November 28, 1942, in Chicago, IL to Joseph & Mary (Emmett) Roebuck, Sr. On August 6, 1963, in Crown Point, Indiana, he married Judith Ann Pool who survives.
Also surviving are children Bobbie Toler, Toni (Richard) Pirkel, Shannon (John) Zlajic, Floyd (Tabitha) Roebuck and Joseph Roebuck Jr.; grandchildren Charles Toler, Daniel, Josh, Alicia, Nicholas & Richard Jr. Pirkel, David Brown, Dustin Searing, Michael Roebuck, Jaqui & Christine Orlando, Robin Roebuck and Heather & Katie Zlajik; great-granddaughter Brooke Renee Roebuck; mother-in-law Joann Bailey; sister-in-law Vicki (Paul) Hryniowiecki; brother-in-law Larry Clark; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
His parents, brothers Gene, Floyd and Michael Roebuck and sister-in-law Debbie Clark preceded him in death.
Sonny had retired as a foreman at the Indiana Department of Transportation, the LaPorte District. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, American Legion Post #80 in Whiting, IN and life member and past commander for 5 years of AMVETS Post #64, also in Whiting.
He was a courageous, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who lost a seven-month battle with cancer. He was a devoted Notre Dame and Chicago Bears football fan, but most of all, the Chicago White Sox lost one of their most dedicated life long fans.

He will be missed by all.
