LaPORTE -- Josephine E. Kegebein, 83, LaPorte, died at 10 a.m. Monday (Feb. 2, 2004) at her home.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Laura Altman officiating. Burial is in Patton Cemetery at a later date. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kegebein was born July 22, 1920, in LaPorte County to Frank and Eva (Christoph) Bales. On Dec. 25, 1937, in Knox, Ind., she married Paul H. Kegebein, who died Aug. 1, 1999.
Survivors include four daughters, Beverly (Chester) Grys, Betty Clark, Bonny (Darrel) Banic and Barbara (Dennis) Combs, all of LaPorte; a son, Robert (Mary) Kegebein, LaPorte; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Arndt, Freeport, Ill., June Binkley, Knox, and Jane Gappa, Winamac, Ind.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and William Bales.
Mrs. Kegebein was a homemaker, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a Beechwood 18 Hole Golf member. She also was a member at Pinecrest Golf Club, Avon Park, Fla.
