Joyce Madison, 61 of La Porte died Monday, August 3, 2009 in La Porte Hospital after a courageous battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.

She was born March 13, 1948 in Terre Haute, IN to Jack E. & Rosalie (Noel) Wright. On April 16, 1966 in Kingsford Heights she married James Madison who survives.

Also surviving are daughter, Susan (Kurt) Birkeland of Alsip, Ill; grandson, Anthony Dubbs of Indianapolis; three brothers, Dean A.(Linda) Wright of La Porte, Steven D. Wright of Michigan City, J. Randy (Susan) Wright of Springboro, OH.; mother, Rosalie Wright of LaPorte; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved Scottish Terry, Abby.

She attended the former Union Twp. High School and graduated from LaPorte High School in 1966.

He was preceded in death by her father.

She is a Licensed Indiana Property & Casualty Insurance Agent. She was employed by Indiana Farm Bureau for 40 years. She was agency coordinator for the LaPorte, Starke, and Michigan City Insurance Agencies. She enjoyed Slicer Sports, especially when her grandson was playing. Her hobbies included gardening, crafting, home decorating. She was a self taught accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing for family, friends, and her co-workers.

Friends will be received at the Cutler Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 5 from 4-8:00 P.M..

Services will be held at 10:00A.M., Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Cutler Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Kingsbury Cemetery in Kingsbury, IN.
