June Galloway

June 1, 1926 — September 24, 2016

June Rose Galloway, 90, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the home of her son, Carl, and daughter-in-law, Sheila.

June was born on June 1, 1926 in La Porte County to Ervin Knute and Hattie Belle (Dietz) Oman.

On June 23, 1943, she married Carl D. Galloway, Sr. who preceded her in death. Also preceding June in death were her parents; her sister, Mary Margaret Mrozek; her brothers, Leonard B. Dietz, Roger Oman, James Oman, Robert Oman, Eugene Oman, Lloyd Oman, and Glen Oman, Sr.; and 3 grandsons, Benjamin Galloway Shirk, Adam Shirk and Brad Galloway.

Surviving are her sister; Betty Wheatbrook; daughters, Carol (Ralph) Vogel and Rebecca (John) Shirk; sons, Carl (Sheila) Galloway, Jr., Robert Galloway, Garry Galloway, and Greg (Sandy) Galloway; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

June was a stay-at-home mom who cared first and foremost for her own children and grandchildren, but also for other children. She also did ironings for other people and cleaned homes. She especially enjoyed refinishing furniture and spent many hours making old furniture look new again. She was actively involved in the La Porte Missionary Church, usually caring for children and helping her husband, Carl. She prayed for all of her children and grandchildren that they would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus who had changed her life and the life of her husband. She was selfless, caring more for others than for herself. She cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren into her 80's and quit only when her health prevented her. June was grateful to remain in her home for two more years with her sister-in-law, Connie, and received special care from her niece, Rhonda, in her last months of life.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Carl Galloway, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery with Pastor Steve Galloway officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 -7 pm on Thursday, September 29, 2016 and from 10 am until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the La Porte Missionary Church Building Fund, 104 E. 18th Street, La Porte, IN 46350.
