June Lavon Henton, 88, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 3:35 a.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at Fountainview Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, at Salem United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home and at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be held at a later date.
June was born June 20, 1916, in Sibley, Iowa to Jonathan & Myrtle (Owens) Stubblefield. On June 14, 1941, in LaPorte, she married Charles "Butch" Henton, who preceded her in death on April 6, 2003.
Survivors include daughter Cynthia Henton of LaPorte, son Richard Henton of Michigan City, IN and 3 nieces.
Four sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
June was a clerk at Allis Chalmers and also at Lillie?s Clothing Store, both in LaPorte. She also gave private flute lessons in her home.
She graduated from LaPorte High School. She took music lessons from Rex Elton Fair in Chicago. She was a member of the LaPorte Amateur Music Club for 50 years, the LaPorte Co. Historical Society and was on the Seniors (Hope To Be) Bowling Team. She had also played the flute for many churches and organizations.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
