Karen S. King, 75, of La Porte, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at La Porte Hospital.
Karen was born on March 23, 1942 in New Castle, PA, to Graham B. and Leola A. (Gills) Sanford.
On August 12, 1967 in Sandy Lake, PA, she married Ronald E. King who survives. Also surviving are her beloved children, Jennifer (Billy) Payne of New Carlisle and Edwin (Daisy) King of La Porte; 8 grandchildren, Drew and Leo Goodson, Will Payne, Landon and Lucas Halderman, Austin Karacson, Miranda (Dakota) Truex, and Bianca Racheu; sister, Debbie Sanford of Grove City, PA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents and sister, Jackie.
Karen had a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Shippensburg (PA) State University. She was a full time elementary teacher for 6 years in Ohio and Pennsylvania and then a substitute teacher for many years in Indiana before she retired in 2003.
Karen was a member of Lamb's Chapel, Hesston Homemakers Extension Club, and Rolling Prairie Lions Club. Her favorite past times included singing, baking, reading, helping at church and especially spending time with her family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM (CST) on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Lamb's Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jay Loucks and Pastor Lynn Breeden officiating. Burial will follow at Lamb's Chapel Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 9 AM (CST) until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.
