Katherine P. (Belzowski) Kanney

Katherine P. Kanney, 89, of La Porte, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at La Porte Hospital.

Katherine was born on November 25, 1928 in La Porte, IN, to Frank and Sophia (Zuzock) Belzowski.  She was the youngest of 8 children; all now deceased.

On June 26, 1948 in La Porte at St. Joseph Church, she married Vincent R. Kanney who passed away on January 5, 2012.   Surviving are her children, Linda (Charles) Baggarly of Chicago, IL, Robert (Carla) Kanney of La Porte, Kathleen (Tom) Heath of La Porte, Kevin (Kay) Kanney of La Porte, Mary (Rodger) Padgett of Monterey, TN, Richard Kanney of La Porte, and Rosemary (Keith) Owens of East Aurora, NY; grandchildren, Megan, Chris, Matt, Katie, Ashley, Adam, Zach and Jeff; great-grandchildren, Austin, Abby, Norah, Levi, Asher, Ruby, Sylas, Dominick, Matty, Lincoln, Parker, Sutton, and Charlotte.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vincent; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Katherine was a graduate of La Porte High School.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She loved to paint, read and watch old TV shows.  She especially enjoyed sharing her home with her youngest son, Rich and their cats.  Katherine loved the simple things in life.  In her younger years, she could crank out a good polka on her accordion as well!  She will be truly missed by her 7 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM (CST) on Monday, March 19, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be from 2 - 6 PM (CST) on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with a Rosary Service at 6 PM (CST).  Visitation will also take place from 8:30 - 9:30 AM (CST) on Monday at the funeral home.
