Kenneth Homann

Kenneth W. Homann, 96 years old of La Porte, IN, passed away peacefully Friday, June 10, 2011 in LaPorte Hospital.

He was born January 15, 1915 in LaPorte, Son of the late William and Anna (Leitz) Homann.

On November 30, 1940 at St. Johns Lutheran Church he married Mildred (Zahrt) Homann who survives.

Kenneth was in the CCC's Prior to the War and later worked at KOP. Kenneth retired from Allis Challmers in 1977. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where he sang in the Walter League Chorus for 50 years. He was a member of the Beechwood Mens Club. He loved to work in the garden, play golf and visit with family and friends. He was the perfect role model for all his children and grandchildren and a faithful councelor to all. He will be deeply missed.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mildred Homann of LaPorte; sons, William Homann of Chesterton, David (Donna) Homann of LaPorte; grandsons, Brett (Kimmie) Homann of Valparaiso, Benjamin Homann of LaPorte and granddaughter, Emily Homann of LaPorte. He is also survived by a nephew, James (Phoebe) Reed of North Carolina, nieces, Janis (Dick) Rosenbaum of North Carolina and Marybeth (Charlie) Watterson of LaPorte.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred (Art) Will; sister-in-law, Helen Reed; best friend & brother-in-law, James Reed and dear cousin, Alberta (Otto) Geisler.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church , Monday, June 13, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery.

There will be a time of visitation from 2-5 P.M., Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Cutler Funeral Home and from 9-10 A.M. on Monday at the St. Johns Lutheran Church, LaPorte, IN.
