Larry D. Johnson, 61, LaPorte, died at 7 p.m. Friday (Dec. 12, 2003) at LaPorte Hospital of natural causes.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cutler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug Hadley officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. E.S.T. at South Union Cemetery, Nappanee, Ind., with the Rev. David Harper officiating.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born July 17, 1942, in Warsaw, Ind., to Robert and Joyce (Pippin) Johnson. His mother survives in Nappanee. On Nov. 30, 1963, in Nappanee, he married Judy A. Seidner, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Randal D. (Toni A.) Johnson, LaPorte, and Brian L. Johnson, Clearwater, Fla.; three grandchildren, Randal Jr., Kaitlynne and Jakob Johnson; one sister, Barbara Braniff, Nappanee; and two brothers, Fred and Jeffrey Johnson, both of Nappanee.
Mr. Johnson retired from NIPSCO after 42 years of service, then became a consultant for NiSource Corp.
He was a 1960 graduate of Nappanee High School. He started flying airplanes at age 14 and received a private pilot's license at age 16. He owned his own airplane for many years. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He also was a member of Church of the Brethren in Nappanee.
