Laura Childress, 70, of Knox, Indiana, died at 3:23 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Starke Memorial Hospital in Knox.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. CST on Friday, February 10 at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, Indiana with Larry Green officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery.
Laura was born October 7, 1935, in LaPorte County, IN to Paul and Laura (Kneisley) Grage. On September 1, 1952, in LaPorte she married James L. Childress who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Debra (James) True of Clarkesville, TN, Vicky (Richard "Doc") Clemens of Crown Point, IN, Lauratta (John) Meister of LaPorte and Paulatta (Thomas) Marlow of Clermont, FL; sons James Childress, Jr. of Rolling Prairie, IN and Scott Childress of Mishawaka, IN; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents and 11 brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Laura had worked at American Rubber and had retired from American Home Foods. She enjoyed puzzles and playing Bingo.
