La Vaughn J. Wiersma

La Vaughn J. Wiersma, 85, of Owens Cross Roads, AL, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018.

La Vaughn was born on February 20, 1932 in Indiana to Arthur and Gertrude Dora (Arens) Ransom.

On May 29, 1954, she married Theodore "Ted" A. Wiersma Jr. who preceded her in death on August 21, 2015.  Surviving are her beloved sons and their wives, Theodore (Felicidad) Wiersma, III of Phoenix, AZ, Bryan (Lisa) Wiersma of Owens Cross Roads, AL, and Bradley Wiersma of Meridian, ID; as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

La Vaughn was a retired realtor and licensed real estate appraiser who lived in Phoenix, Arizona after moving from La Porte in 1968. She lived in Phoenix, AZ from 1968 through 2012 prior to moving to Owens Cross Roads, Al.  In 2013, she moved to Owens Cross Roads where she lived her remaining years in loving care of Bryan (Lisa) Wiersma until her passing.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and devoting herself to church activities while enjoying the fellowship with others during worship.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM (CST) on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Dr. Sally Wicks officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 11 AM - 1 PM (CST) on Friday January 19, 2018 at the funeral home.
