Lawrence E. Peterson, 89, of La Porte, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Golden LivingCenter Fountainview, La Porte, IN .
He was born in La Porte on January 19, 1924 to Harry and Bessie (Boone) Peterson.
On May 29, 1946 in Koontz Lake, IN, he married Velma M. Irwin, who died August 8, 2011.
Surviving are his beloved children, Pamela (John) Smith of La Porte, Valarie (David) Brantley of La Porte, Dale (Shawn) Peterson of Franklin, NC, and Garry (Dawn) Peterson of Florida; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister. Phyllis Marquardt of La Porte; brothers, Garland "Butch" Peterson, and Harry "Pete" Peterson, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Lawrence "Lorny" Peterson, Jr.; 2 grandsons; and brother, Jack Peterson.
Lawrence worked as an Construction Worker and Truck Driver. After his retirement, he worked at the La Porte County Fair Grounds. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. He loved fishing, camping, horseshoes, hunting, and riding motorcycles with Velma back in the good old days.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 AM - 12 PM on Wednesday, April 24, 2012 at the Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Patton Cemetery with full military honor's provided by the La Porte Honor Guard.
