Lee M. Parsons, 93, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 1:10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Union Mills, with Rev. David Gibbs officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Union Mills Cemetery.
Lee was born December 5, 1911, in Danville, Indiana to Gilbert R. & Maude (Symmonds) Parsons. On May 2, 1943, in Union Mills, he married Celia C. Wakeman, who survives.
Also surviving are sons Alan (Susie) Parsons of LaPorte, David (Sharon) Parsons of Bloomington, IN, and Roland (Meg) Parsons of LaPorte; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Eleanor Jean Arnold of Rushville, IN.
A sister, Ada Gray, and a brother, Donald Parsons, preceded him in death.
Lee was a self-employed farmer and a school bus driver. He was active with the LaPorte Co. Farm Bureau and the Audubon Society where he served as president and treasurer. He received the Dutcher Award and the Earl Brooks Award from the Indiana Audubon Society. He served as the Scipio Township Trustee for two terms and was the past president of the Scipio Township Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church.
