Leona W. Benner, 95, New Carlisle, died at 2:10 p.m. Monday (Dec. 29, 2003) at Hamilton Grove Communities, New Carlisle.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Jack Cox officiating. Burial is in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Benner was born July 2, 1908, in Royalton, Ky., to Miles and Evelyne (Marshall) Marshall. On March 28, 1948, in Goshen, she married Lloyd B. Benner, who died in 1956.
She is survived by one daughter, Thelma E. Bodie, Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Joseph (June) C. West, Michigan City; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sadie Helen Benner, two grandsons, six brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Benner was a nursing assistant for Beatty Memorial Hospital in Westville and was a former member of World War II Mothers.
