Lewis Nelson Vermilyer, Sr., age 89 of Kingsbury, IN, died at 2:05 A.M. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Golden Living Center Fountainview, LaPorte.
He was born March 28, 1923 in LaPorte, son of Nelson Barnum and Liesetta Schlaudraff Vermilyer.
In 1944 he married Mildred Frances Pszeniczny.
He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Galien, MI, and was retired from American Home Foods. He was active in farming over the years.
Surviving are his children, Lewis (Marty) Vermilyer, Jr. of New Carlisle; Mary Hartz of Duluth, GA; Frances (David) Warren of Chicago, IL; Jim (Sara) Vermilyer of Hackett, AR; Bruce (Patti) Vermilyer of Kingsbury, IN; Nelson "Bill" (Elizabeth) Vermilyer of Dayton Lake, MI; 16 grand children and 23 great grand children.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred and son, John Joseph Vermilyer.
Friends will be received for viewing from 4-8 PM Monday, October 22, 2012 and on Tuesday from 9- 10 AM at the Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2900 Monroe Street, LaPorte, IN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 AM Tuesday at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Lewis Lambert officiating.
Interment will follow in the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte .
