Librada Vazquez, 89, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016.
Librada was born in Paracho, Michoacan, Mexico on January 26, 1927 to Jose Carmen Nava and Juana Gomez Nava.
On June 24, 1950, she married Samuel Vazquez who survives. Also surviving are her beloved children, Judy (Howard) Hughes and Janet (Glenn) Oman; 4 grandchildren, Janel Hughes Jones, H. Christopher Hughes, G. Bradford Oman, and Kaelyn Librada Oman; one great-grandson, Cameron Jones; siblings, Ana Nava Barajas, Arcelia Nava, and Raul Onchi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Tomasa Nava Hernandez and Eustolia Nava Pliego.
Librada was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Librada enjoyed being a servant to her family. She always put herself last. She enjoyed cooking for everyone. Librada loved gardening. In her younger years, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and knitting.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. The family has requested a private family Celebration of Life Memorial Service.
