Lila E. (Carlson) Davis

Lila E. Davis, 95, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.

Lila was born in Highwood, IL on November 5, 1922 to Carl "Cully" and Agnes E.L. (McNeal) Carlson.

Lila was married to Donald Davis who preceded her in death May 23, 2008. Surviving are her son, George (Lynn) Davis of Union Mills; daughter, Carolyn (Steve) Gray of Chesterton; 3 grandchildren, Hannah (Derek) Dewitt of Osceola, IN, Mary (Timothy) Franklin of Lafayette, IN, and Elijah Davis of West Lafayette, IN; 7 great-grandchildren, Clark, Ezekiel, Max, Rebecca, Thad, Lorileigh, and Brandon; 1 great, great-grandchild, Riley; 2 brothers, Harold "Buddy" Carlson of Grayslake, IL, and George (Judie) Carlson of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Marie Marti of Richmond, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald T. Davis; son, Don Hilton Davis; sister, Catherine Carlson; brothers, Roy "Bushy" Carlson and Donald Carlson; sister, Carol Ann Stebic; and close cousin, Wilmer "Whimmy" Carlson.

Lila was a US Army WAC veteran during WWII. She was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion, member of the Eagles, Moose, La Porte Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for many years. She was devoted to her family.

The mornings dawn is always young, and Lila's life has just begun.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM (CST) on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Ben Crostreet officiating. Burial will take place following the service with Full Military Honors at Pine Lake Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 11 AM (CST) until the time of service on Saturday at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
