Lilly Tibbs, of La Porte, IN passed away at Settler’s House in La Porte, IN on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the age of 84. She was born on July 17, 1928 in Mannheim, Germany the daughter of Joseph & Emilie (Salis Von Galitz) Hacker. On January 7, 1957 she married Paul A. Tibbs in Mannheim, Germany he survives.
She is also survived by five children, Frank (Afsaneh) Tibbs of Vienna, VA, Bettina (Eddie) Leslie of Gatesville, TX, Jesse Tibbs of La Porte, IN Andrew (Teresa) Tibbs of Atlanta, GA, Patrick (Shellie) Tibbs of Middlebury, IN; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ella Keiper; and one brother, Arthure Hacker.
Lilly graduated from high school in Germany and became a member of the Berlin Ballet. She met and married her husband of 55 years while he was serving in the United States Army and was based in Germany. They spent the next 25 years stationed across the United Stated while serving their country. They then moved to La Porte in 1974 and became members of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She worked and volunteered at Fountain View Terrace for11 years. Lilly was a dedicated wife, mother, & grandmother.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in La Porte on Wednesday December 19, 2012 at 10 AM with Pastor Ronald Brauer officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday December 26, 2012 at 11 AM at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN.
Family and friends will be received at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Tuesday December 18, 2012 from 5-8 PM and from 9-10 AM prior to the funeral at the church.
