Hank Henry, 78, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hines officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted.
Hank was born December 5, 1926, in Winamac, Indiana to Herschel E. and Edith M. (Bader) Henry. On September 15, 1972, in LaPorte, he married Harriet B. Kuta, who survives.
Survivors also include son Todd W. Henry of LaPorte; brothers Eugene M. Henry of Port St. Lucie, FL, Wendell M. Henry of Mt. Pleasant, MI and Byron K. Henry of Winamac, IN; stepsons James and Timothy Barkmann, both of LaPorte; grandchildren April K.C. and Caleb E.M. Henry of LaPorte; step-grandchildren Kelly Bates, Brandy Cleeland and Amber Barkmann; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
His parents, daughter Lorna Kay Henry, brother Stanley K. Henry, twin brother Corwin C. Henry, and step-granddaughter Krystal Barkmann preceded him in death.
Hank had retired as Captain of the LaPorte City Fire Department after 24 years of service. He had also retired form the Indiana State Highway Department after 10 years.
He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II. serving on the USS LCS (L) (3) 45 and earned the American, Asiatic and Victory Ribbons while sweeping mines in the Yangtze River near Shanghai and around Formosa Island.
