Louana Levandoski

Louana J. Levandoski, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in La Porte on Friday, July 7, 2017.

Louana was born February 20, 1927 in Boone County, IN, to Paul Sherman and Elsie Thresa (Baker) Irwin. She had been a resident of La Porte after moving from Lebanon, IN, in the late 1940’s. She had been a service representative at Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Lebanon and after moving to La Porte, she worked various secretarial jobs until she was employed at NIPSCO in November 1955, and was customer service representative until retiring on December 1, 1987. She then worked in real estate until 2000.

On March 16, 1979, she married Theodore “Butch” J. Levandoski who preceded her in death on January 23, 1994. She married Merrill “Bud” J. Kemerer on July 11, 1997 who died on October 17, 1997. Also preceding her in death are her brother, Joseph Keith Irwin and a foster sister, Elaine (Felling) King. Surviving are her 3 sisters, Evelyn Wooten of Schertz, TX, Bonnie Wethington and Mildred “Midge” LaGrange, both of Lebanon; brother, jack Irwin of Lebanon; foster brother, Charles Felling of Northport, FL; many nieces and nephews; and loving companion, Thomas “Tom” E. Levenhagen of La Porte.

Louana was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She belonged to the La Porte Ladies Auxillary at La Porte Hospital for many years, was a past member of Polish Falcon, PNA, PRCU, Pinochle club, and a lifetime member of Hubner Swanson VFW #1130 Auxillary.

Cremation has taken place at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM (CST) on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Father Paul Nesta officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pine Lake Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 10 – 11 AM (CST) on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s church of choice.
