Louis Sydow, age 79, of Sparta, TN, formerly of Michigan City, IN passed away on August 9, 2015 following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born on December 13, 1935 in Michigan City, IN, the son of Louis and Marion (Hibner) Sydow, Sr.
Louis attended school and was raised in Michigan City, IN, where he also co-owned and operated Ace Taxi for years. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by, two daughters, Stacy Sydow and Stephanie Sydow, both of La Porte, IN; nine grandchildren; four siblings, Lois (Bill) Leffler of La Porte, IN, Albert (Lorraine) Sydow, Betty Seter, and Colleen Miller, all of Michigan City, IN; many nieces and nephews; and best friends, William Gunter of Michigan City and David Pollard of Sparta, TN.
He was preceded by his parents; two grandsons, Austin and Andrew Griffin; six brothers, John, Charles, Robert, James, Kenny, and Don Sydow; and a great-nephew, Brian McCrory, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Louis' honor on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 6 PM. Full military honors will be conducted.
Family and friends will be received from 4-6 PM prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
