Louisa (Louie) Frances Hayter Gordon, age 92, a life long resident of LaPorte County, passed away peacefully at Miller’s Rehab, LaPorte on Wednesday, 6th June, 2018..
The daughter of Vida (Dixon) and Walter William Hayter was born on July 20th, 1925. She graduated in 1943 from Union Township High School, LaPorte County.
On April 20th, 1946, In LaPorte, Louisa and James Edward Gordon were married. Jim preceded her in death on December 20, 2005.
Louie worked in the LaPorte Woolen Mill till it closed.
For many years Louie was the historian for the Union Township Alumni Association. She enjoyed crocheting and playing the organ.
Louie is survived by her son, James Reginald Gordon, South Bend and nieces and nephew: Jean Hayter (Richard R. Conlin), Bronx, NY; Charles L. (Judy-dec.) Hayter, Pikesville, TN; Luanne (Larry-dec.) Long, Walkerton, IN; Shirl (Bill-dec.) Daniels, Tucson, AZ; Rose Swanson, Tucson, AZ; and Donna (Bruce) Kessler, Tucson, Phoenix, AZ
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim; her brother, Walter John Hayter; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Eleanor.
A time of visitation will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Kingsbury Cemetery.
