Louise Corbett, 78 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 in The Arbors at Michigan City.
She was born April 8, 1934 in Savanna, TN, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mamie (Wilkerson) Pickens.
Louise worked for Parco Foods in Michigan City. She loved writing poetry, gardening and the leaves in the fall. Louise was a mother to all the kids in the neighborhood.
Lucy, the red rose of our garden, picked in the rays of the sun, her spirit is the cool breeze after a hot day is done. We shall always love her, the queen of our hearts. She taught us kindness and planted these seeds in our hearts.
Surviving are her Children, Joseph Corbett of LaPorte, Terry Corbett of Michigan City, Sandy (Leslie) Lipscomb of LaPorte, James Corbett of Michigan City, Alan Corbett of Michigan City, Brenda (Ronald) Sullivan of LaPorte, Randall (Angie) Corbett of LaPorte, John Corbett of Michigan City; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Wilma) Pickens of Manchester, TN, Bob (Betty) Pickens of Oakland, TN, Calvin (Julia) Pickens of Memphis, TN; sister, Lorene James of Olive Branch of Mississippi; special friend, Dave Kloss of Kouts, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kimmy Lee Corbett, Robert Corbett; brother, Dean Pickens; and sisters, Anne McGinty, and Ruby Buckner.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 and from 10 AM until the time of service on Thursday at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, With Pastor Dennis Pickens officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, IN.
