Lova T. Carter, 90, of South Bend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Healthwin Specialized Care.
Lova was the 7th and last child born to Hazel and Lawrence Taylor, October 31, 1930, in Marion, Indiana.
Married first to Roger Slack in 1949, together they had two sons. Later in 1975 she married Ted Carter.
Having other jobs previously, Lova retired in 1992 from NIPSCO, after 23 years of service.
Lova dearly loved her family and appreciated every visit, always looking forward to the next chance to meet or talk. Being around or watching animals really entertained Lova and she was often thrilled to be planning a vacation trip.
As a faithful member of the North Mishawaka congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Lova truly enjoyed and was benefited by the meetings, her volunteer service and the company of many loving friends.
Lova is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Barbara) Slack and Stephen (Denise) Slack; grandsons, Kyle Gulick and Jonathan (Shai-Lin) Slack; much loved nieces & nephews; step-grandsons, David (Stefanie) Wilson, Scott Wilson, Mark (Maranda) Wilson and Ryan (Kaew) Wilson; great-grandson Phoenix Slack; and step-great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Haley, Lillian, Brooklyn and Troy Wilson.
Lova was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Pelton, Lawrence Taylor, Wayne Taylor, Dale Taylor, Harriett Schumaker and Jim Taylor.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
