Lucille B. (Ivester) Filip

Lucille was born a true coal miner's daughter in Kentucky.  She spent her young years in coal towns in Tennessee with her loving family, wonderful hard working parents, two sisters and three brothers.

In 1942, the family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.  In 1948, the first of her three children was born.  She had two daughters, Sharon and Debbie, and a son, Steve.

In 1969, Lucille married Robert Filip and moved to La Porte, Indiana where she lived for the rest of her life.  She was always hard working and productive. She worked for many years as a head cashier for Kroger and A&P Supermarkets.  In Northern Indiana, she worked in several factories.  She loved traveling, gardening, reading, pot luck dinners, and playing cards with family and friends.  She belonged to the PNA and Moose in La Porte, Indiana.

She leaves behind her daughter, Sharon (David) Stenger; stepdaughter, Nina (Lance) Tucker; son-in-law, Rodney (Debbie) Williams; daughter-in-law, Bernie (Steve) Filip; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Cora Ivester; husband, Robert Filip; daughter, Debbie (Rodney) Williams; son, Stephen (Bernie) Filip; stepson, Michael Filip; and 5 siblings.

Lucille left behind wonderful memories of a long life.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

There will be a service at Rolling Prairie Cemetery and family and friends will meet at the PNA in La Porte, Indiana to celebrate the life of Lucille at a future date.
