Lucille Hubner, 83 of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The VFW Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Lucille was born September 3, 1922, in LaPorte to the late John Quincy and Anna Mae (Cassiday) Tibbs. On May 26, 1945, in New Braunfels, Texas, she married James W. Hubner who survives.
Also surviving are sons Douglas Lee (Nancy) Hubner of Pompano Beach, FL and Jeffrey Lynn (Jane) Hubner of LaPorte; grandchildren Ryan, Erica, Mitchell and Alyssa; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Sisters Pauline Romero, Viola Nugent, Lillian Geisler, Leota Badkey and brothers Clarence, Jessie, Wavel and Delos "Pat" Tibbs preceded her in death.
Lucille had worked at the LaPorte Savings Bank, the LaPorte County Recorders office and had served as the Center Township Assessor.
She was a 1941 LaPorte High School graduate. She was a member of the Hubner-Swanson Post #1130 VFW Auxiliary since 1948 and had been past president twice. She was also a member of the Past President Club of the Auxiliary. She belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild and Circle Six. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she had a strong faith in God.
