Margaret E. Field, 83, of La Porte, passed away on September 2, 2013, at IU Health La Porte Hospital.
She was born in Rowlesburg, West Virginia on April 2, 1930 to Harry and Cora (Diehl) Shahan.
In June of 1950, she married Carl W. Field Sr., he preceded her in death in 1971.
Surviving are her beloved children; Mary Ann (Kenneth) Wohlbrandt of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Carl W. Field Jr. of Kingwood, West Virginia, Michael A. (Mieko) Field of Austin, Texas, Robin (Watson Tucker) Field of Dekalb, Illinois, Erin (Mark Duszynski) Field of La Porte; son-in-law, Dennie Stout of Orlando, Florida; siblings, Mary Ross of New Jersey, John (Garnett) Shahan of Georgia, Mike (Joan) Shahan Sr. of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Kenneth Wohlbrandt II, Thomas Field, Yvette Florez, Lowell DeVall, Amy Kamphaus, and Lily Passafume; and seven great-grandchildren, Laurin, Sophie, Jennah, Logan, Amelia, Austin, and Aly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband-Carl; a daughter-Tina Stout; siblings, Harry Shahan II, Dotty Kline, and Keith Shahan.
Margaret had a long and distinguished career with Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crossword puzzles, cooking, playing the organ, sharing family stories, and above all being together with her loved ones.
A Catholic Memorial Funeral Mass will be held October 12, 2013 at Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church in Michigan City at 9:30 a.m.
A Committal Service will be held at her final resting place in the spring of 2014 at The Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, West Virginia.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church in Michigan City, Indiana.
